Sister Megan Lindsay Smoot, by the authority of the Melchizedek priesthood, we place our hands upon your head and set you apart as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We give unto you all the rights, privileges, responsibilities and blessings that are associated with this call, with your assignment to serve in the Philippines, Quezon City Mission.

Sister Smoot, we bless you that you will have health and strength to carry you throughout your mission. That you’ll be strong physically to be able to take care of the physical needs and responsibilities of finding people, bring them unto our Savior.

We bless you with the mental strength, that you’ll be able to study, to learn, and understand, to gain the knowledge that you need. We bless you with spiritual strength, that through this service you’ll learn how your Father in Heaven communicates with you through the spirit of the Holy Ghost. You’ll be able to receive inspiration, revelation, directions, and blessings from our Father in Heaven.

We bless you that as you begin your missionary service here at the MTC, particularly, that the gift of knowledge, that as you study the language, Tagalog, you’ll be able to quickly learn and understand, that you’ll be able to be a wonderful missionary, being able to communicate with the people in the Philippines.

We bless you that your heart will be soft. That you’ll be able to sense, to feel, and to know and understand people and their needs and be able to teach to those needs.

We bless you that you’ll have great compassion and love, and charity in your heart and that you’ll be able to see people through the Savior’s eyes.

We bless you that you’ll be a peacemaker and a leader that other missionaries can look to you to your good way of life, to your good example, and know the things they should and shouldn’t do by following you.

I bless you that you’ll be faithful and diligent that you will be successful and that you’ll be able to find those people that our Father in Heaven has sent you to find, to teach, and bring back to his fold.

Sister Smoot, we bless you.  We bless your family through your faithful service that they too will receive wonderful blessings from our Father in Heaven, that they will be watched over and blessed as well. Make sure that you communicate with them. Let them know of your challenges, struggles, your successes, your joys, that they too might joy in your missionary service and that they can exercise in faith and prayers on your behalf and those who you teach they can pray for. And seek our Father in Heaven’s help for you and your missionary service. That all might be blessed and edified because of your service. Be faithful in following the directions and counsel of your mission president and his wife. They will give you direction in your mission that also will give you protection that you’ll be safe, that as you follow that counsel, you’ll be successful in missionary service and it will carry forward throughout your life. You will be able to draw upon those experiences from your missionary service. But you’ll be able to inspire, blessed, and help people throughout your life. This is a preparation time for the rest of your life in preparing to be a wonderful wife and mother, and sister in the gospel. This will give you great value and strength to be faithful throughout your life.

We thank you for your willingness to serve, for your preparation, your faithfulness in all that you’ve done throughout your life that has prepared you to go forward in serving this time, in this capacity. We bless you with great joy and happiness, and great peace throughout your missionary service. Remember our Father in Heaven loves those who rely upon him. Pray, and seek direction, seek inspiration, seek revelation from Him as you act upon these promptings, he will continue to bless you with greatness. It will be a great blessing throughout your life as you were to communicate with our Father in Heaven through the Holy Ghost.

I leave these blessings and any other blessings our Father in Heaven has in store for you at this time and throughout your mission and do so in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.
